Stand By Me. Been one of my favourite films since I was around eight or nine years old, and I just re-watched it for the first time in a couple of years. It hasn’t lost any of its magic. It still makes me wish I was alive in 1950’s America. The relationship between the gang is still lovely to watch.

1.22 Born to Run

The opening scene is a clear reference to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. The movie is about a blonde woman on the run who drives into a motel. The motel room, the shower scene, and the music all resemble this horror movie.

Yeah, I definitely noticed this at the time. Probably one of Lost’s most alarming Gothic moments.

When I was nine years old, I thought Frollo’s obsession with Esmerelda was to convert her to Catholicism, which would make her ‘good’ and ‘holy’.

So, last week, I watched the film again. Through an adult’s perspective, I came to realise that he desperately wants to ravage her — the sniffing of the hair, the fetishism of the scarf. It’s so intense!

Wow. Gothic much with its Monkish lust? :P

Okay, So I watched Fruit Chan’s Dumplings (餃子) for the second time because I wanted to go to the Asian Gothic cinema class. My Female Gothic class was cancelled. Boourns. Anyway, Bai Ling, who plays Aunt Mei, is incredibly attractive. I love her hair, and she has an amazing body. Oh yes.

I watched the Korean film Memento Mori (여고괴담 II) on Tuesday. The only attraction of the film was that it was about lesbians in an all-girls boarding school. It featured three kisses, and no frontal nudity, which was disappointing.

There is a director’s cut version. I will watch that in hope.

Where Got Ghost? (吓到笑)

I have to see this. It has a stupid title, so it’s going to be awesome. I haven’t seen any Singaporean films yet.
